Renowned journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has sought to debunk claims by a member of the New Patriotic Party( NPP) and cousin of the President, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, that his uncle, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has performed better in terms of health that his predecessor John Mahama, wondering how the purchase and distribution of ambulances is a better performance than building hospitals.

In social media post sighted by MyNewsGh.com, the influential cousin of the President argued that since in various areas including health care delivery President Akufo-Addo has done better, he was struggling to figure out what the campaign message of former President John Mahama would be as he contests the presidency this year.

“I wonder what John Mahama’s campaign message will be in 2020. On the economy: Akufo-Addo has done better. On health: Akufo-Addo has done better. On education: Akufo-Addo has done better. On infrastructure, Akufo-Addo is doing much better. 5 major interchanges being built all at the same time; never in our history.

With this Govt, Ghanaians can see where their money is going. Follow the facts. Not the propaganda,” he had declared.

But award-winning investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni responded, pointing out that it would be strange if the provision of ambulances was better than putting up hospitals, which is what former President Mahama did.

“Sir, how could Akufo-Addo have done better on health than Mahama? Hospitals Vs Ambulances?” He quizzed.

He then added that it was strange that the major flaw that led to the rejection of John Mahama, which he says is corruption, did not make it to the benchmarks used by Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko to contrast the two personalities.

“Well, I’m curious you left out corruption, the main reason Mahama was kicked out. How has Akufo-Addo performed in that sector?” He asked.

Mr Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, though holds no official government portfolio is deemed to be very close to the President, and thus wields enormous power.
