How biblical stories of Jonah and Hezekiah sustained Agradaa behind bars

In Ghana and around the world, the phenomenon of 'prison-gate conversions' remains a powerful narrative of reform.

For many high-profile convicts, the transition from public scandal to pastoral ministry is not merely a change of heart but a strategic survival mechanism forged within the confines of the correctional system.

Evangelist Patricia Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa’s case seems no different, as her barely 1-year prison experience challenged her and deepened her belief in God.

The founder of Heavens Way Champion Ministry has shared some inspiration she drew from well-known biblical accounts while she was serving her term in prison.

Agradaa, who walks free on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, served just 1-year custodial sentence after an initial 15-year jail term was slashed.

Sharing some of her experience with Ghana Prisons TV and shared by SikaOfficial’s X page on March 3, 2026, she disclosed how the life of some persons in the Bible increased her faith during her incarceration.

According to her, while in prison, she studied the Bible, asking God questions about how He came through for these people.

“So, I studied the word and asked myself what they 9biblical characters) did for God to come through for them. So, I read the bible to ascertain what they did to gain their freedom…and came to the realisation that the word was used to create the earth, why can’t God use the word to overturn my sentence…,” she shared.

“I threw a challenge to God that Jonah sinned but he prayed to God and God showed him mercy, Nebuchadnezzar suffered same but God gave him a second chance to rule again. Hezekiah was told to prepare his will as he was to die by prophet Isaiah, but when he prayed God extended his life by 15 years in the Word of God. So, I threw a challenge to God…Elijah, during his encounter with the prophets of Baal, called on God and said He (God) should show up for all to know that He is indeed God,” She added.

She also shared how her total dependence on the word of God (the scriptures) encouraged her during those challenging moments.
