Multimedia Group’s Photojournalist David Andoh was on Friday January 10th heckled at the Accra High Court by a Police officer while he was covering the story of officials of the National Communications Authority (NCA) who were standing trial for allegedly embezzling public funds.

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Photojournalist of the year was taking shots of some newsworthy incidents outside the courtroom when the Policeman hounded him.

The Police officer wanted to impede journalists at the Court yard from taking footage of the personalities involved in the National Communications Authority scandal.

In a video captured by an eyewitness, the Police officer was seen forcibly trying to seize the camera of David Andoh. It took an intervention of nearby journalists to restrain the officer who eventually quit the struggle.

Recounting the incident, Mr. Andoh stated that “There was some sought of altercation at the scene and he [Policeman] violently rushed on some other media personnel, when he saw I had my camera focused toward his direction, he turned his vicious venom on me and ordered I surrender my camera which I declined".

Security personnel at the scene tried to shelve the footage of the altercation recorded by the eyewitness.

Although uninjured the attack on Mr Andoh, adds to the numerous unwarranted attacks on journalists in their line of duty.
