House adopts report on Ken-wuud Nuworsu

Accra, Feb. 21, GNA - Parliament on Thursday adopted the report of the Appointments Committee, which has recommended the approval of Mr. Ken-Wuud Nuworsu as Deputy Minister of Manpower, Youth and Employment. Mr. Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, a member of the committee, moved a motion for adoption of the report and presented it to the House. He said the Committee suspended its report on Mr Nuworsu last year to conduct further checks on allegations made against him.

"Mr Ken-Wuud Nuworsu, who is currently the Volta Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) had to deal with very much publicized allegations against him and these were put before him at his vetting."

"Consequently, questions to the nominee by the committee were mainly centred on those allegations, which bothered on financial impropriety and queries from the Auditor-General's Department as well as the Serious Fraud Office," Mr Owusu-Agyemang, also the NPP MP for New Juaben North, said.

He said the committee was obliged to conduct further checks on the veracity or otherwise of the allegations resulting in a re-auditing of the accounts of NADMO in Ho, which had adversely affected the nominee. "The Committee subsequently noted that the report on the re-audit exonerated the nominee from alleged financial impropriety and other related matters that were raised at the public vetting of the nominee, Mr Owusu-Agyemang said.

"The committee is satisfied with the outcome of the further investigations conducted by the Auditor-General and recommends that this honourable House approves the appointment of "Mr Ken-Wuud Nuworsu, as Deputy Minister of Manpower, Youth and Employment by consensus." he said.
