The arrest of Hopeson Adorye, a prominent figure in the Movement for Change and a former leading member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has sent shockwaves throughout the country.

Hopeson Adorye, who was arrested for his remarks about detonating dynamite to intimidate non-Ghanaians from voting in the Volta Region during the 2016 election, has been granted bail of GH₵20,000 with two sureties.

A video has surfaced showing the former NPP member arguing with a police officer as he was being prepared for transport from the Ministries' Police Station where he was held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

In the video, the police officer, as seen by GhanaWeb, was attempting to get Adorye into a vehicle while he was speaking with his lawyer, Ken Korankye.

Adorye became increasingly frustrated with the officer's persistence and snapped at him.

"I'm talking to my lawyer, please. I'm talking to my lawyer. What is this? I'm talking to my lawyer, and you are interrupting me. Please, let me speak with my lawyer. What is the meaning of this? Are you the only police officer?" a visibly angry Adorye shouted.

Despite his anger, Hopeson eventually entered the vehicle with the police officer, who was in plain clothes, as he continued to express his frustration.
