Homowo: Don’t sprinkle 'Kpokpoi' if you’re not a chief - Ga Traditional Council

The Ga Traditional Council has cautioned persons who are not legitimate chiefs to desist from sprinkling 'kpokpoi' during the annual Homowo festival celebration.

The council has also called on the security apparatus to clamp down on all persons who will foment trouble during the festival.

A statement signed by Mercy Asante, Registrar of the Council, said: “The Ga Traditional Council at an emergency meeting held Thursday, 16 August 2018, unanimously agreed to comply with the REGSEC directives that all divisions that have one conflict or another are to conduct their Homowo rites within their various palaces.

“However, the concern of the Council is about certain youth groups portraying themselves as chiefs and going about on that day to sprinkle 'kpokpoi' in Ga Mashie.

“The Council will hereby appreciate if the security personnel will ensure that these youth groups are restricted from these activities as well as those who will be masquerading as twins on the day of the Twins Festivals (Ye Ye Ye) on Friday 17 August 2018”.
