Mrs Lady Johnson, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Homemakers, Africa’s Home Management and Hospitality industry’s innovative game changer, has been meritoriously given the Best Achiever in Home Care and Management Services award at the 5th Feminine Ghana Achievement Awards in Accra.

The CEO of the leading job creation innovator in Ghana’s Professional Home Management and Hospitality space was awarded among other outstanding women achievers in the country who are contributing immensely to the development of both industry and nation.

In a post-event interview, Lady Johnson said that she is not surprised that she got the Best Achiever Award even though Homemakers is a relatively young player in the industry. “We’re putting so much into what we do at Homemakers to deliver nothing but the best anybody could dream of,” she explained.

According to her, “Homemakers is here to change the face of home management and hospitality services provision with a uniquely professional touch that is innovatively creating sustainable jobs for the teeming unemployed youth while delivering value-for-money driven excellent home management services to clients.”

When asked why their focus is not only on providing professional home management services but mainly on job creation, her response was, “It’s too frustrating seeing new batches of unemployed graduates join old batches on the streets and in communities. It’s the job of entrepreneurs to create jobs not to complain about unemployment like everybody is doing.”

“With the implementation of Free Basic and SHS programmes, we’re emptying our streets of unschooled children and replacing them with batches of unemployed graduates from SHS and tertiary institutions. If nothing is creatively and innovatively done to provide these fast-growing numbers sustainable jobs, they will soon mature into internal security challenges among other ill-derivatives. All entrepreneurs must thus focus more on job creation to assist government with unemployment solutions,” She explained.

According to her, it is out of their passion to help solve the growing unemployment problem in the country that they found some wide gaps in the home management and hospitality industry and decided to fill them with innovative solutions which are now sustainable sources of employment for many young people.

“Customers in very dynamic industries are complaining genuinely about the quality of services of graduates produced by both public and private training institutions and their concerns must be taken seriously,” She observed. “For instance, industrial dynamism will not permit the same village youth who once got a house boy or house girl job without senior high education to land same job in Accra after SHS if he or she has no employable professional home management skills to offer. So, in the case of Homemakers, we’ve established Homemakers Academy to train and groom professional home management personnel and Homemakers Pro to place these well trained and groomed professionals on jobs. And, we have a very efficient quality assurance with effective monitoring and evaluation system to ensure uncompromising adherence to our values and standards.”
