Holiday Makers Want More Attention Paid To La Beach

Accra (GAR), July 14 ,-- The La Pleasure Beach, the nation's leading resort, should be effectively promoted as part of the country's tourism development effort. This was the view of a cross-section of people interviewed by GRi at the beach on Sunday. The holidaymakers called for a joint ventureship by private promoters, the La Youth Association and the Ghana Tourist Development Board if the resort is to realize maximum revenue for both government and the La community. Citing the picnic at the beach on Republic Day which he described as a ''fiasco'', Mr Robert Tetteh, a banker, noted that the La Youth Association which promoted the event lacked finesse and the entrepreneurial skill. ''What happened on July one was a complete flop. The association could have reaped more revenue had they properly organized the event,'' Mr Tetteh said. The association now collaborates with the Ghana Tourist Development Board in the promotion of events at the beach for the development of La.
