An executive of National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Suleman Abdullah has called police to detain the embattled Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Menzgold Ghana Limited, Nana Appiah Mensah till he coughs out about GH¢200 million of depositors cash believed to be held up at the collapsed gold dealership firm.
“For this one, the CID Boss Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo Dankwa must detain NAM 1 till all customers of Menzgold are paid”, the outspoken communicator spoke on Kumasi-based Otec FM’s afternoon political talk show monitored by MyNewsGh.com.
According to the Afigya Sekyere East Constituency Communications Officer, the CID Boss should make sure the Nana Appiah Mensah is not left out off the hook.
“Don’t allow Nana Appiah Mensah to sneak out again…hold his passport and other travelling documents”, Mr. Suleman Abdullah told host, Agya Wusu Ansah during a panel discussion.
Nana Appiah Mensah spent Thursday night in police cell on his arrival in the country after he was declared wanted in January this year.
This was after the embattled CEO was picked up by the CID on the tarmac of the Kotoka International Airport when he disembarked from an Emirate flight and driver straight to the CID Headquarters.
He had been in custody in Dubai since last year but he recently won his court case against Dubai-based gold dealership firm, Horizon in the $39 million gold trial.
Addressing journalists Thursday on the development, Head of Public Affairs of the Police CID, DSP Juliana Obeng confirmed that NAM1 is in the custody of the CID following an Interpol alert issued for him.
“Interpol Dubai handed him over to Interpol Ghana today for the continuation of the investigations that started 2018,” she said.
Responding to reports that NAM1 is set to be arraigned before court Friday, DSP Obeng said: “He is going through a process. If he has to be detained, he will be detained and if he is not supposed to be detained too, of course, we will allow him to go.”
