The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has responded to demands by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) concerning Ghana’s voters register.
This is as a result of an ultimatum given to the EC by the NDC, calling for a forensic audit of the voters register and the public publishing of the report.
The EC has since provided highlights of its response to the demands of the NDC, which includes an invitation for talks to clarify that all discrepancies have been addressed.

1. Call for Forensic audit

2. VMS Audit Trail
Voter Management System (SMS) has audit trail and integrity. Every voter registration can be queried.
3. Cleaning the PVR
Regulations 23 of C.I 91 provides clear and well-defined pathways to clean Provisional Voters Register (PVR)
4. Process ongoing
Processes to clean the PVR are going on, including implementation of decisions of DRRO’s
5. Online exhibition PVR
EC will implement online exhibition of the corrected PVR at no cost to registered voters
6. No evidence provided
NDC yet to provide evidence of discrepancies to the EC
7. Scrutiny of PVR
NDC, other political parties and voters can scrutinise the PVR and request for correction of discrepancies, if any
8. IT system has audit trail
IT system has audit trail and tracks all voter registration entries and modifications. It doesn’t delete names of voters.
9. Using PVR for nominations
It is lawful to use the details of voters PVR to support nomination of candidates.
10. EC invites NDC for talks
EC invites NDC team for talks to enable the commission to demonstrate that all discrepancies have been restored.
