Award‑winning Ghanaian rapper Medikal has revealed that some past comments made by Highest Eri sparked tension online when his team recently considered bringing her on board for a project.

Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime on December 3, 2025, the rapper explained that although his team believed adding Eri to their line-up would be beneficial, they were quickly reminded of a previous misunderstanding between them.

According to Medikal, Eri once made a public statement stating that she can never marry someone like him because she considers him “childish”.

He revealed that this old statement resurfaced the moment her name was mentioned.

“My team sat down and had a discussion. They felt like they needed to bring someone on board so when they mentioned the name, they remembered that she and I had had a problem before.

“She said something about me in the past. She once said she can’t get married to someone like me because I am childish,” he said.

He shared that when news broke that they were looking to work with her, his fans became divided, leading to intense debate across social platforms.

“So when the fans saw that we wanted to work with her after what she said, there was so much back and forth. God being so good, my people appointed good people to come on board," he noted.

Medikal further noted that it was not only the comment directed at him that triggered backlash.

According to him, Eri also made a ‘nasty’ comment about Shatta Wale in the past, a situation he described as disrespectful.

This, he said, made things even more complicated since fans of the two musicians have strong memories of such issues.

“The girl had also mentioned something about Shatta Wale and it was something which was very disrespectful. The fans also don’t forget these things hence the back and forth,” he stated.

Medikal, however, clarified that he holds no personal grudge and has moved on, but felt it was important to explain why the collaboration could not materialise.

“I don’t have any issue with Eri, I’ve moved passed that,” he added.
