Here is why the AICC will be temporarily closed

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the immediate temporary closure of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) to facilitate essential renovation work.

The news was contained in a statement issued by the Ministry on Friday, March 27, 2026.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform the general public of
the temporary closure of the Accra International Conference (AICC) with immediate effect to allow for scheduled renovations aimed at ensuring the safety and long-term functionality of the facility", it stated.

The Ministry further disclosed that the reopening date,"will be communicated to the general public in due course."

It also reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring quality public service.

AICC is a prominent venue located in Accra, known for hosting major conferences, trade exhibitions, and diplomatic summits.

Ghana's embassy in Washington DC closed down over alleged corrupt practices by staff

Built in 1991, it has a capacity of up to 1,800 people and features multiple conference halls, making it a key location for various events.
