Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has officially declared a nationwide strike, directing all its members to stay at home starting Monday, March 9, 2026, until further notice.
In a statement released on March 5, 2026, it said the industrial action had become necessary due to unresolved issues with the government.
“The issues remain unresolved and as a result, all staff of the Civil Service and Local Government Service are enjoined to stay at home with effect from Monday, March 9, 2026, until further notice,” the statement said.

The strike follows a prior notice of intention to strike, formally issued by the National Executive Council (NEC) of CLOGSAG on February 19, 2026.
The association says the government has refused to implement a unique salary structure and improve conditions of service, prompting the industrial action.
CLOGSAG also notified the National Labour Commission of its intended strike, giving the government nearly three weeks to resolve the matter before the strike deadline.
