Help NRSC end road carnage – Mahama to drivers

Former President John Dramani Mahama has begun a road safety campaign ahead of the Easter festivities, through which he is sensitising drivers of the need to curb road accidents.

Mr Mahama, who toured various bus terminals in Accra on Thursday, 18 April 2019, appealed to the drivers and terminal operators to team up with the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) to reduce road accidents.

Mr Mahama also urged the passengers to ensure they admonish drivers against unnecessary speeding.

“We all have to help the Commission to reduce the accidents that occur on our roads,” Mr stated.

He continued: “We are pleading with the drivers to make every effort to exercise restraint in speeding in order to decrease road crashes”.

For his part, the Welfare Chairman of the Tudu branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), Olympio Peku, welcomed the former president's advice and also called on him to support them to construct a modern terminal.

Mr Mahama also visited the Kaneshie and Kwame Nkrumah Circle bus in the capital.
