Helicopter Crash: Two women granted bail in case involving abusive comments on Mahama

Two women accused of making abusive and offensive statements against President John Dramani Mahama in connection with the tragic helicopter crash at Sikaman on August 6, 2025, have been granted bail.

The crash, which occurred in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, claimed the lives of several high-ranking government officials and military personnel.

According to a report by graphic.com.gh, the accused; Priscilla Duah Birago, a 29-year-old National Service personnel, and Charity Dede Tetteh, a 29-year-old beautician, appeared before the Adenta Circuit Court on September 5, 2025.

The court granted each of the two bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 with two sureties, one to be justified with property.

The accused pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit a crime with offensive conduct, and offensive conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace.

Presiding Judge Angela Attache cautioned the women to stay out of trouble, stressing the sensitivity of the matter.

A team of three lawyers, led by Enoch Anhwere Afoakwa, represented the accused and assured the court they would advise their clients accordingly.

The case has been adjourned to November 5, 2025.

According to the prosecution, on August 6, 2025, Tetteh and Birago hosted a live-streamed discussion on TikTok during which they made offensive and abusive remarks against President Mahama.

Birago later disseminated the statements on her TikTok account under the name “Abena Birago.”

The prosecution added that the accused were subsequently arrested, and a forensic capture of the live stream has been secured as evidence.
