Laying a wreath on behalf of the GBA, Ghartey stated that news of the fatal crash deeply affected the association, just as it did the entire country, considering the grave nature of the accident, one unprecedented in the nation’s recent history.

“Indeed, when we heard this tragic news last week, we were deeply moved as an association because in our recent history, this indeed is an accident that we have not encountered.

“And the lives that were lost and the investment that has been made in those lives, it’s obvious that this was a tragedy for the nation. So today we are here to lay our flowers in honor of these exemplary persons who have lost their lives,” she said.

She added, “As far as we are concerned, never again should this nation have such a tragedy befall it and we pray that the good Lord protect us all in our going and coming in because I’m sure the day that they said goodbye to their families in the morning, they did not expect to hear this news from their loved ones, and so should it be with all of us.”
