Heavy downpour affects TOR's processing plants

Accra, June 21 GNA - The Sunday's heavy down pour caused floods at Tema Oil Refinery's refined products pump station, resulting in suspension of loading operations.

A statement issued by Ms Aba Lokko, the Public Relations Manager and emailed to the Ghana News Agency on Monday said the floods also caused th e western part of the fence wall to collapse.

"As a pre-emptive measure, engineers on duty put the processing units , which were running (on stream) into safe mode to avert damage to the plan ts and equipment," she said. She said currently, engineers and technicians were working tirelessly to restore operations at the pump house. The Crude Distillation Unit (CDU), she said, has since been restarted

whilst the Residue Fluid Catalytic Cracking (RFCC) unit would be back on stream by Sunday, June 27 2010. Ms Lokko said the Refinery was delivering petrol and diesel to the market at the moment but indicated that the supply of Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK), Fuel Oil and Premix to the market would be temporarily affected for two days (June 22-23, 2010). The Management of TOR assures the general public that the situation i s under control and there is no cause for alarm. 21 June 10
