Hearts conceded ‘very cheap’ goal – Wellington

Hearts of Oak drew 1-1 with Eleven Wonders in their first game of the 2017/18 Ghana Premier League. Winful Cobbinha’s first-half penalty was cancelled by Eleven Wonders striker, Alex Asamoah.

Speaking to FootballMadeInGhana.com in a post-match interview, Hearts coach Henry Wellington described the goal they conceded as “very cheap” but refused to blame his players for the draw.

“We came in to pick the three points but unfortunately in the second half, they allowed a very cheap header from Alex Asamoah. That got them the equalizer. My intention was to pick the three points but there’s nothing bad about it, to begin with only one point as we are going to prepare well” he said.

Coach Wellington lamented his team’s lack of effort to close-in the opponent. “If you had to watch our game, when we lost the ball, they allowed the boys to control before they going to them. They did very well because this is our first game” Wellington said before praising Eleven Wonders.

“They are a good side. They’ve started well. They played well and if they can continue to play like this, they will go far” the Hearts coach said of Eleven Wonders.
