Health Officer Killed By Armed Robbers

The Environmental Health Officer of the Manya Krobo District Assembly, Mr. Nicholas Cudjoe, Ofori was shot and killed by armed robbers who invaded his residence at Agormanya near Odumase-Krobo.

Information gathered by the Chronicle at Odumase-Krobo revealed that last Monday at about 01:00 hrs GMT, while he was in bed, the armed robbers, an unspecified number, attacked the District Health Officer.

They were able to rob him of ?16 million and jewellery, which value was not immediately known.

As the robbers were going, Mr. Cudjoe's son identified one of them as an electronic technician who comes to do repair work for the father and told the father.

Behold, the robbers heard it and immediately returned and shot him in the left chest and moved away.

Neighbours on hearing the gunshot came to find Mr. Cudjoe lying in a pool of blood.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Afua Government Hospital.

Three persons have so far been apprehended.

They are Moses Tetteh, Tetteh-Tsu Odonkor and Joseph Tetteh, a taxi driver who attempted to whisk away Moses Tetteh from the police.

The taxi with registration GT 6975 S, driven by Joseph Tetteh, has since been impounded at the Akuse Police Station, while investigations are on-going.

The police at Akuse say they are going to arraign the three before an Odumase-Krobo Circuit Court today.
