The Ministry of Health has taken a major step in improving cardiovascular care nationwide, following the donation of over GH¢ worth of medical equipment under the AYA Integrated Healthcare Initiative.

“The Ministry has also launched revised national guidelines for cardiovascular disease (CVD) management to standardise and improve health care across the country," it said.
At the launch, the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, unveiled updated CVD protocols alongside new CHPS implementation booklets and training manuals to strengthen frontline capacity and service delivery.
“This combined effort, he stressed, will accelerate the government's Free Primary Healthcare agenda by improving early detection and management of conditions such as hypertension and diabetes,“ the post stated.
Speaking on behalf of the GIZ Country Director, Wilhelm Hugo stressed the need for partnerships in tackling non-communicable diseases.
“Partnerships are crucial for strengthening health systems, and GIZ remains committed to supporting Ghana’s efforts in providing equitable and quality healthcare,” he noted.
The donated equipment, including ECG machines, defibrillators, glucometers, and blood pressure monitors, is set to support 179 health facilities across seven regions, enhancing access to high-quality cardiovascular care.
