The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has inspected Ebola preparedness measures at Accra International Airport (AIA) as Ghana strengthens surveillance against any possible outbreak entering the country.

The inspection focused on screening procedures, emergency response systems, and the readiness of health officials at the airport to detect and contain suspected Ebola cases.

The visit comes amid growing concerns over Ebola outbreaks in parts of Africa, with authorities tightening preventive measures at major entry points into the country.

The Minister said the "inspection forms part of government’s broader strategy to enhance disease surveillance and reinforce preventive measures at all entry points into the country."

Speaking during the inspection, he urged event organisers and the public to strictly observe safety protocols, including the provision of handwashing facilities and hand sanitisers at public gatherings to help strengthen preventive efforts.

Kwabena Mintah Akandoh also underscored the importance of vigilance and early detection in protecting the country from a possible outbreak.

He, however, assured Ghanaians to remain calm, stressing that no Ebola case has been recorded in the country.
