Headmaster lauds President Mills "Better Ghana Agenda"

Bole (N/R), Dec. 8, GNA - A headmaster has commended President John Atta Mills for his "Better Ghana Agenda" that has led to the construction of several classroom and dormitory blocks in Senior High Schools (SHS) throughout the country.

Mr. Iddrisu Tomtekelam Mamdu, the Headmaster of the Bole SHS, said some of them were "doubting Thomases" when the government promised to provide infrastructure to ease classroom and accommodation problems in schools but to their dismay and delight their expectations had been met. Mr. Mamdu was speaking at the handing over of a six-unit classroom block to the school on Tuesday.

The block was constructed at the cost of over 2.7 million Ghana cedis. The Headmaster said in addition to the classroom block the government was also building a two-storey classroom block, a girls' dormitory, two staff quarters and the tarring of the road leading to the school. In addition, he said, the government had provided 40 desk top computers and accessories to the school adding that the Bole SHS was the first school in the country to benefit from the provision of such computers. Mr. Mamdu said the school still faced challenges in the area of accommodation for its staff and a dormitory block for the boys and appealed to the government and NGOs to assist the school. Alhaji Sampson Abudu, Bole District Chief Executive, in an address read on his behalf urged the staff and students of the school to make good use of the facilities to justify the investments made by the government. He urged the teachers to remain dedicated and committed to their work as government strives to improve their conditions of service. Alhaji Abudu said the district assembly would as from next year ensure that the school gets adequate water supply daily.
