Haruna Atta is a "hungry and dazed person" – Kofi Jumah

Maxwell Kofi Jumah, the former Member of Parliament (MP) for the Asokwa constituency, has described Alhaji Haruna Atta, the Editor-in-Chief of the Accra Mail newspaper as a “hungry and dazed person” in reaction to a call by the latter for the need to unite the country.

In an interview with Adom FM on Thursday, Haruna Atta expressed concern over the deepening polarization of the country by the on-going litigation, with respect to the 2012 election results, and called for a conscious effort to pull the country together.

However, the former representative of the people of Asokwa is of the view that, Haruna Atta should not make any submission on any current issue because it took him twenty years to realize Ex-President Rawlings is a good man, and therefor, wants to make peace with him, and that makes him come across as a someone who reacts late to issues.

According to him, the veteran Journalist’s attempt to make peace with Ex-President Jerry John Rawlings and his family is sign that he has been hungry for a long time and has been looking an opportunity to end it.

Kofi Jumah made these comments in allusion to the praise Haruna Atta heaped on President Rawlings while serving as the Master of Ceremony at this year’s Annual Democratic Lecture organised by National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in Accra.

He has had a stormy and often antagonistic relationship during the former President’s time in office as Head of State.

“I bashed him a lot when he was ruling the country, but it is time to let bygones be bygones,” Alhaji Haruna said; adding that the fourth Republic is very much part of President Rawlings’ legacy”.

Speaking as a studio panelist on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem programme, this singular act, Kofi Jumah says he sees the Editor-in-Chief of the Accra Daily Mail newspaper as a “hungry and dazed person”.

However, Alhaji Haruna Atta refused to be drawn into a banter with the Hon. Kofi Jumah.
