As part of New Patriotic Party's (NPPs) first anniversary thanksgiving service in government, the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on behalf of the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has revealed that, it took the party hard work and prayer to win power.

The Vice President called on the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu at the Central Mosque at Abossey Okine in Accra, where he recalled the party had gone through countless electoral challenges since 2008 but with the determination to serve the country diligently, the president was crowned overwhelmingly in the 2016 general elections.

Thanking the Chief Imam and the embodiment of the Muslim society for their prayer and support, Alhaji Dr. Muhamadu Bawumia said, he was privilege to have met the president's choice for the running-mate at which time he called on the Imam at the same mosque.

He has since not departed from the Islamic leader. Paying tribute to the persona of the president, the vice praised "I see the increasing competence of H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo each passing day and the level at which he has the country at heart cannot be easily compared. The president is never corrupt, and cannot be made to be so".

As a sign of his appreciation, Alhaji Bawumia has promised to paint up the Central Mosque and do tiling where necessary for beatification. Other cash donations were also made by the party.

In his response through his spokesperson, the Chief Imam congratulated Dr. Bawumia for being grateful to God and showing appreciation when it was due.

He advised the Nana Addo led administration to serve Ghanaians with truth and accountability for the country to be outstanding among other African countries.
