Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice Presidential Candidate of the NPP for the 2016 Election, Friday, visited the camp of the Ghanaian Pilgrims performing this year’s Hajj to fraternize and find out how they are doing especially after the Tragic Mina stampede which occurred on Thursday.

Dr. Bawumia, who is himself performing this year’s Hajj pilgrimage, moved through the various tents of Ghanaian pilgrims after the Friday prayers and was extremely well received by the pilgrims who gladly interacted with Dr. Bawumia on their experiences so far and their concerns.

The pilgrims, who were happy at the show of concern, took the opportunity to also pray with Dr. Bawumia and shared ideas on a wide range of issues.

In his various interactions with the Ghanaian community at Hajj, Dr. Bawumia thanked the pilgrims for their show of brotherhood and for welcoming him wholeheartedly and sharing their experiences and concerns with him. He urged the Ghanaian delegation to continue to pray for the safety of all in the delegation until they arrive safely back home and for Allah’s blessings on Ghana.

The former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana also met the Association of Hajj Agents and members of the Hajj Board Taskforce on how arrangements had gone for this year’s Hajj and other issues of mutual concern.

Earlier in the week, Dr. Bawumia paid a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharabutu. He also called on the Chief Imam of the Ahlu Sunnah wal Jama’ah, Sheikh Umar Ibrahim and his entourage at this year’s Hajj.

The Hajj pilgrimage is one of the five pillars of Islam and every able-bodied Muslim who can afford to do so is expected to go to Mecca at least once in her/his lifetime during the designated time of the pilgrimage.
