A group of rowdy witches at Gushegu in the Northern region on Monday morning stormed the offices of the District Chief Executive of the area demanding their LEAP allowance.

The women who are camped at Kpatinga, Nabuli and Leli’tabari allegedly for possessing spiritual powers besieged the administration block singing dirges and demanding payment of their LEAP allowance.

Their action caused a break in activities at the offices as the unruly witches could not be easily controlled.

The incensed women threatened to lock down the offices of the Assembly if they don’t receive the monies due them.

According to the leader of the group Alimatu Sadia, government through the ministry of Gender Children and Social Protection registered them as LEAP beneficiaries but they have since received nothing for two years.

She noted that government has showed no concern about their plight as widows and promised to ensure the Mahama-led adminsitartion is voted out in the November General Elections.

It took the intervention of a team of religious leaders in the community to restrain the witches.

The District Officer in charge of Social welfare Mr. Tia S. Dokurugu told StarrNews that his office has compiled names of all beneficiaries to the headquarters in Accra and as a result could not be of any immediate help to them.

He added that his outfit is currently waiting for the funds to be released for payment.
