Guard against false doctrines - Asante-Antwi

Teshie, April 1, GNA - The Most Reverend Dr. Samuel Asante-Antwi, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, on Saturday called on religious leaders to guard against the teaching of false doctrines.

He was inaugurating the Teshie-Nungua Circuit of the Church, the 18th in the Accra Diocese of the Church, which coincided with the induction of the Very Reverend Samuel Kwatei Quartey as its First Superintendent Minister.

Rev. Dr. Asante-Antwi pointed out that the teaching of such doctrines is a big tragedy for the Christian tradition. He observed that members of the society could "put on their thinking caps" only if the clergy endeavoured to give them a lot of Christian and secular education.

Rev. Dr. Asante-Antwi reminded members of the circuit that, in assuming this status, they should press on with programmes in evangelism, education and development.

He charged the new Superintendent Minister not only to discharge his duties diligently, but to also help promote peace and unity among Christians. The Right Reverend Samuel Kwami Ahodasi, Bishop of Accra, said it behoved Christians to show God's light to their less privileged brothers in society and, therefore, cautioned them to lead exemplary lifestyles.

Rev. Quartey called for co-operation from members to ensure the effective running of the circuit. There were goodwill messages from the clergy in the Diocese, wishing the new circuit and its entire membership all the best in their endeavours.
