Grader acquisition improves roads in Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District

Ajumako (C/R), May 6, GNA - The acquisition of a grader by the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Assembly last year has made it possible for the assembly to construct nine access roads and rehabilitated seven others. The new roads are Hasowodze-Ba Ndaam, Abowinmu School Field, Mando-Ampia-Ajumako, Anyinasi Junction-Trebu, Breman Essiam-Trebu, Bisease Junction-Patase and Enyan Denkyira Habitat. The rehabilitated ones are Kromaiam-Mando, Abowinmu-Nkodwo, Ajumako Township, Bisease Junction-Eduakrom Nkwantanum Clinic and Eshiem-Afranse and Nkwantanum-Bisease.

The District Chief Executive, Mr. Peter Light Koomson, said this at the First Ordinary Meeting of the fourth Session of the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Assembly at Ajumako. He said it was initially agreed that anytime the grader was to work in a community the people would provide fuel but this could not be implemented because the communities had difficulties to raise funds. Mr Koomson said the grader had rendered service to private contractors and had accrued 6,000.00 Ghana cedis to the Assembly and another service in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District fetched 1500.00 Ghana cedis.

Mr Koomson said the income has gone to defray part of servicing and parts-replacement cost. On water, he said under the Local Service Delivery and Governance Programme, 20 boreholes had been drilled between January and March 2010 with 16 of them having successfully hit water. 6 May 10
