Agona Swedru, Feb. 28, GNA- The Government has voted 21 billion cedis for the rehabilitation of Agona Swedru roads to give the town a new facelift.
Mr Samuel Kweku Obodai, Member of Parliament for Agona West announced this at ceremony to honour Master Abdul Rahman Amoadu, who was adjudged the best student in 2002 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination Master Amoadu scored A's in all the eight subjects he wrote in the SSCE , 2002.
Mr Obodai said that work on the project would begin in June this year to make Swedru, district capital a better place to leave. He noted that the government would continue to provide social amenities to improve their living standards and asked the people to reciprocate by voting massively in the upcoming general election. The MP assured the headmaster, board of governors, teaching staff and non-teaching staff that all abandoned structures would be tackled to promote quality teaching at the school.
He asked them not to be complacent that the school has produced over all best student in SSCE 2002 but strive hard so that more students of such calibre would be produced in future .
The Headmaster of the School Mr Opare Essel said that there is only one bungalow for personnel 90 tutors and that is for the head of the institution, yet the school runs a quasi-boarding system. He appealed to NGOs, Companies, Corporations, Central Government and Agona District Assembly to assist the school.
