Govt imposes ban on use of arms at Bimbilla

The Ministry of the Interior has placed a temporarily total ban on all persons in the Bimbilla Township and its surrounding areas, from using arms and any offensive weapons.

“Any person found with such ammunition would be arrested and prosecuted,” a statement signed by Mr Mark Owen Woyongo, the Interior Minister and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra stated.

The statement said based on the advice of the Northern Regional Security Council, the Executive Instrument on the curfew imposed on the Bimbilla township, has been reviewed with effect from last Friday, June 12.

The period of the curfew was reviewed from 2100hours to 0500hours.

Government urged chiefs and community members to exercise restraints in the face of the challenges confronting them, and to resort to non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace in the area.
