...as TUC Disappointed With Consultaion Before Fuel Price Increases
The Trades Union Congress has expressed disappointment at government’s failure to adequately consult its social partners before announcing the petroleum price increases last week.

The leadership of the TUC says government waited till the last hour before calling for the views of some stakeholders, by which time any contributions made could hardly affect the final decision.

Forty-eight hours before the announcement of petroleum price increases the government held two consultations with the TUC and other bodies on the impending price increase. Secretary General of the TUC Kwasi Amankwah told the press that mid-way through the consultations the government abandoned the process and went ahead to announce the increases.

Mr Adu-Amankwah urged the government to actively engage the public in taking such decisions and other matters affecting the economy. He also cautioned against the policy of leaving the economy to market forces.
