Governor of Ningxia Province to visit Volta Region

The Governor of the Ningxia Province China would lead a delegation to Volta Region, Ghana in April to actualize the recent sister region cooperation pact between the two governing areas.

Mr Joseph Amenowode, Volta Regional Minister, said this at a soiree for journalists in Ho on Monday.

He said the Volta Region was seeking cooperation with the Chinese in all areas of mutual benefit and appealed the Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) to use the opportunity to establish links with its counterparts in Ningxia.

Mr Amenowode said he would lead a team from the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) to visit districts in the coming weeks.

The Minister said he would interact with the chiefs and people in the districts and expect them (districts) to discuss their challenges.

Mr Amenowode said a lot of infrastructure works had been completed or are at various stages of completion across the region contrary to suggestions that very little was happening in the region.

He said a total of 571 school projects had been or were being done and that 10 major road works were also on-going.

Mr Amenowode said the road works include the Akanu-Dzodze portion of the Akatsi-Akanu by-pass from Accra Fume–Vane and Asukawkaw-Dambai roads.

He said a massive rural electrification on the scale that had never happened in the region was going on with many towns, villages and hamlets across the region already connected to the national grid.

Mr Amenowode said 386 more communities would have electricity under the programme this year.

He said he would not seek to court favorites among the ranks of journalist rather it was in the national interest for journalist to go strictly by the tenets of the profession.

Mr Amenowode said Journalists would not be blameless if Ghana’s widely acclaimed democracy failed.

The Minister on behalf of the VRCC presented a computer and accessories to the Volta Region GJA to be installed at its office in Ho, furnished last year by the VRCC.
