National Service farms in three districts produce 8,000 mini bags of maize

The Central Regional Minister, Madam Ama Benyiwa Doe, on Wednesday, handed over 8,000 mini bags of maize to the Regional Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) to supplement their food requirements.

The maize was harvested from National Service Personnel Farms in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirim, Awutu-Senya and Effutu districts under the Youth in Agriculture programme.

The beneficiary schools will pay GHC35.00 per bag instead of GHC70.

Mrs Benyiwa Doe commended the National Service Secretariat and urged District Assemblies to continue to support the service secretariats in their districts to sustain the Youth in Agriculture programme.

Mr Vincent Senam Kuagbenu, Executive Director of the National Service Secretariat, said the achievement made was due to support given them by coordinators from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

Mr Samuel Ofori Adjei, National President of CHASS, who received the maize on behalf of his organisation, commended the Government for selling the maize at a reduced prize.
