Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has shared further details of the government's Adwumawura programme.
Speaking at the onboarding and orientation ceremony at the Cedi Conference Centre, University of Ghana, on October 2, 2025, Professor Opoku-Agyemang explained that the 10,000 beneficiaries of the programme were selected strictly on merit.
She revealed that more than 120,000 individuals expressed interest in the initiative; however, after rigorous scrutiny, 10,000 were chosen for the 2025 cohort.
According to the Vice President, the programme provides a comprehensive support package, including training in business planning, digital skills, customer service, and sustainability strategies.

"The overwhelming response we received is a testament to the necessity of this programme. Across the country, more than 120,000 applications were received, showing the determination and ambition within our communities. From this pool, 10,000 young men and women have been selected for the 2025 cohort," she said.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang further emphasised that the initiative is not only about funding selected individuals but also about nurturing them into entrepreneurs.
"They demonstrated potential, determination, and a readiness to embrace the task ahead. The Adwumawura programme is more than funding and training, it is about creating an ecosystem that gives entrepreneurs the tools they need to succeed. This includes practical training in business planning, financial management, digital skills, customer service, and sustainability strategies," she added.
