Government presents facilitators with incentives

Obuasi, Dec 19, GNA - Facilitators of the Non-Formal Education Division (NFED) of the Ministry of Education and Sports have been asked to include in their activities the education of communities to send all children to school following the introduction of the capitation grant scheme.

Mr Joseph Kwadwo Boampong, the Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive, said this when he presented 23 bicycles, 41 sewing machines and 64 ghetto blasters as incentive packages to over 100 NFED facilitators at Obuasi.

The items were from the government. "With the introduction of the capitation grant whereby public basic school pupils will not pay any fee, you have to educate parents to send their children to school", he said.

Mr Boampong said the government appreciated the contributions of the facilitators, hence the presentation of the items. "This is to motivate you to continue with your work which is sacrificial", he said.

Miss Hectoria Boadi, the Obuasi Municipal Co-ordinator of the NFED, said the government was committed to the development of the human resource that was why it was resourcing the facilitators to assist in reducing illiteracy.

Mr Emmanuel Okai Ababio, one of the facilitators, appealed to the government to consider presentation of certificates to facilitators as one of the incentive packages.
