Government has not reneged on its promises - DCE

Apam, (C/R) May 1, GNA - The District Chief Executive of Gomoa West, Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, has said that the National Democratic Congress-led government has not reneged on its campaign promises made to Ghanaians. He has, therefore, asked those who accusing the government, especially the NPP of not fulfilling its promises to 93give us a break".

Mr Aidoo-Mensah said this at a graduation ceremony of 45 dressmakers, who are beneficiaries of the National Youth Employment Programme, (NYEP) at Apam at the weekend. It ceremony was under the theme: 93Empowering the Youth with Technical and Vocational Skills for a Better Ghana". The DCE said 8,000 out of the 8,600 free school uniforms received by the assembly had been distributed and the rest would be given out when basic schools re-open.

He said most of the Apam Town Roads had been tarred and the rest would be completed by the middle of May. The Member of Parliament for Gomoa West, Mr Francis Kojo Arthur, said most communities without electricity had now been connected to the national electrification grid. The Central Regional co-ordinator of the NYEP, Nana Osibi, said equipping the youth with skills is so dear to the government, therefore, he encouraged all idle youth across the country to register with the NYEP. The Gomoa West coordinator of the NYEP, Mr Alex Gyimah, announced that the district had trained a total of 1,099 youth free of charge and that more models in Auto-Mechanic, Welding and Plumbing would also be introduced soon. 01 May 11
