Government has failed to honour electoral promises - Akufo-Addo

Akim Oda (E/R), June 10, GNA - Nana addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, one of the presidential aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Monday said the present government has failed to honour all the electoral promises made to Ghanaians.

"This clearly shows that Ghanaians cannot rely on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government", he stressed.

Nana Akufo-Addo was addressing the Akim Oda Constituency delegates of the NPP at the Methodist Conference Hall, Oda, to solicit for their votes in the party's flag-bearer race.

He called on the delegates and polling station executives to work diligently at the grassroots level to enable the party to recapture political power from NDC come 2012.

Nana Akufo-Addo asked the delegates to give him the mandate to lead the party by overwhelmingly voting him as the flagbearer, adding that the increases in utility tariffs, coupled with the mishandling of the School Feeding Programme, National Health Insurance Scheme and National Youth Employment Programme initiated by the NPP administration, had been messed up by the present government and that he had a vision to ensure their successful implementation.

Mr Yaw Osafo Maafo, a former Member of Parliament for Akim Oda Constituency, advised party members to desist from acts that would tarnish the party's hard won reputation and, therefore, called on them to rally behind Nana Akufo-Addo who was capable of turning the economy around to bring smile to the faces of Ghanaians.

Other speakers included Mr Yaw Owusu Boateng, MP for the Constituency, Mr William Ketu, Presiding Member of the Birim Central Assembly, Prince Aboagye, Eastern Regional Secretary of NPP and Mr Yaw Mintah Debra, NPP constituency Chairman. 10 June 10
