Returning Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah will have no resource challenge in order to achieve his set targets, Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah has assured.

Coach Appiah who was Ghana boss between 2012 and 2014 has agreed to a two-year deal for his second stint and will officially assume duties May 1.

Interacting with the media after inspecting some sports facilities in Accra Tuesday, Youth and Sports Minister Asiamah reiterated his trust and backing for the local man to succeed.

“At my vetting, I did speak about local content. I’m a proud Ghanaian, I believe in the capabilities of the Ghanaian.

“Over the years, the Afcon trophies that we have won have all been done by Ghanaian coaches and moving forward, I believe that we have a capable man in Kwasi Appiah. He took us to the World Cup in 2014

“I have always indicated that the indiscipline, the embarrassment wasn’t the fault of Kwasi Appiah. It was as a result of government’s own failure to honour its promise to the players…” he said.

Hon Asiamah then promised government’s readiness to adequately support the former Kotoko defender to do his job.

”We are going to support Kwasi Appiah with all the resources to function as a coach. If we supported Avram Grant with all the resources and we had nothing from him, our local coach should be supported adequately to function as a national coach,” he stated.

Kwasi Appiah will play a dual role as head of both the senior Black Stars team and the home-grown Chan team.

He will kick off his second coming with a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations home qualifier against Ethiopia on June 6.
