Gov't must not shield corrupt GYEEDA officials - GII

The Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) is asking government to follow the laid down procedures in punishing those implicated in the Ghana Youth Employment Entrepreneurial Development Agency report.

It follows assurances by President Mahama that individuals indicted in the GYEEDA report will be sanctioned.

Speaking to XYZ NEWS, Programmes Manager of the GII, Linda Ofori-Kwafo, said the right body must take the issue up to ensure culprits face the full rigors of the law.

“It is important the legislation that we have put in place in dealing with corruption is enforced and I think that it is plain in the laid down procedures,” she said.

The report, which was released in August, indicted several people and companies and made punitive recommendations.

The report also recommended that "RLG should refund an amount of five million and four hundred thousand Ghana cedis (GHS 5,400,000) being over payments made to the company". It also added that "contracts with Better Ghana Management Services Ltd. should be terminated in accordance with the provisions in the contract as it does not provide value for money."
