Gov’t has built 77 kindergarten school blocks - Ekow Vincent Assafuah

The Ministry of Education has given a clear indication of its commitment to the growth of Education in Ghana.

According to the Ministry, a country’s growth and development hinges on its informed human resources and this could be achieved through ensuring that access to education is universal in the country.

In an interview with the Director of Communications at the Ministry of Education, Ekow Vincent Assafuah, on the achievements of the government through the Education Ministry two years after taking over the reins of power, he indicated that government has shown enough commitment towards ensuring that Ghanaians of School going age are provided access.

He mentioned that several policies have been implemented to make education the best in the country which is an indication that the government is committed to growth in the education sector.

Ekow Vincent Assafuah disclosed that at the Basic level, government has built 77 Kindergarten classes where children below the age of four are provided with the basic teaching and learning materials to provide them a better foundation.

He noted that the capitation grant given to Basic Schools for the Day to Day administration of the schools have been increased by 120% and has taken off the burden most Headmasters had to go through to secure funding for running their schools.

He noted that although there has been some challenges with the implementation of the Free Senior High School programme, they have chalked success at ensuring that the policy sees the day of light adding that all efforts have been channeled in ensuring that Ghanaian children are given the best of education they could get.
