Gov't Delegation Pays Last Respects To Nana Mbrah

Cape Coast (C/R), July 8, An official government delegation led by Mr Kojo Yankah, Central Regional Minister, today paid its last respect to Osabarima Kojo Mbrah the fifth, omanhene of the Oguaa traditional area, at Cape Coast today. The delegation, which was welcomed with fontomfrom and the firing of musketry, exchanged greetings with members of the family and the traditional council. They later filed past the body of the Omanhene laid in state at the Neighbourhood centre near the Victoria Park. The delegation, made up of the Regional Coordinating Council, chief executives, members of parliament, departmental heads, and assemblymen, presented six cartons of beer, six crates of minerals, one carton schnapps and 1.5 million cedis to the traditional council through the burial committee. The traditional council has set aside six days of mourning which began on Monday in memory of the omanhene who died in August last year. The Osabarima will be buried on Saturday, July 12. Mr Yankah wrote in the book of condolence on behalf of the delegation that "may the ideals for which Nana Mbrah stood for - unity, peace and development -- be immortalised in the lives of those he left behind". Osabarima Kojo Mbrah the fifth who was enstooled omanhene on July 1948, ruled for 48 years. Mr Kwaku Konadu, registrar of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), presented two bottles schnapps and 100,000 cedis on behalf of the UCC administration to the bereaved family.
