Good Investment Climate Has Induced Spate Of Land Litigation - Land Officer

Mr. James E.K. Dadson, Volta regional lands officer, has said the spate of land litigation cases in the region is a hindrance to the conducive investment climate created by government. Briefing newsmen at Ho yesterday on the work of the lands commission in the region, Mr. Dadson said investments in commercial agriculture have suffered from this. Identifying suitable sites is not a problem, however identifying the rightful owners of land is what introduces the myriad of problems, he added. According to Mr. Dadson a total of 200 proposed land acquisitions are pending for compensation throughout the Volta region even though most of them were acquired in the 1960s and 1970s. He said an inspection of some of the acquired sites revealed that while some have abandoned projects on them, others remain undeveloped.
