MP for Gomoa East in the Central Region Hon. Kojo Asemanyi has been accused of generating a land dispute between KAS Real Estate and an NGO named WEL International at Okyereko in the Central Region, with protection from the Kasoa Divisional Police Command under the pretense of constructing one of government’s flagship program, 1 DITRICT 1 FACTORY in the area.

Per information available, WEL International encroached on a land KAS Real Estate had bought from the chiefs some six years ago but recently encroached by WEL International.

The issue according to information was brought to the attention of the Kasoa Police for settlement after failure to settle at the Ojobi Police Command.

Speaking to press, Yaya Kassim Attah CEO for KAS Real Estate, stated that the Kasoa Police Divisional Command requested both parties pay a sum GH15, 000 to conduct investigations into the matter but WEL International later confirmed to the police that indeed their own investigations indicate that KAS Estate has a legitimate case after KAS Estate provided the said amount.

But later realized WEL International besieged the land with Bulldozers and Excavators with heavy security presence grading the land, which the Police Command ignored calls from KAS Estate after it alerted the Police.

But speaking to ACP Dennis Abade, Divisional Police Commander, he said that although information of the said land has come to his notice, the MP for Gomoa East later approached him requesting security presence to help conduct an exercise in the area.

He further denied allegations of requesting for an amount from both parties to conduct investigations into the matter.

Gomoa East MP, Kojo Asemani in an interview with said KAS Estate is the original owner of the land, however, he is considering the broader interest of the community

Efforts to reach WEL International proved futile. Meanwhile HAS Estate has petitioned the IGP for further investigation into the matter.
