The Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Iddrisu Musah Superior has dared aggrieved assembly members who are determined to impeach him, to go ahead and stop begging him in secret.

According to him, some of them have started pleading with him in secret over their involvement in a petition seeking to have him impeached.

He wants those persons to render a public apology for their actions or go ahead and pursue the impeachment if they believe they have grounded evidence to back whatever they have.

“Some of you “Honourables” are unbelievably “smart”.

Just render a public unqualified apology to me and stop talking to me in private or go ahead to impeach. You lied to damage my reputation but I stood firm, challenged and exposed you.

In whatever I do, Allah is my guide and guard”

he enraged assembly members who have collated 31 signatures with the aim of passing a vote of no confidence in the mayor, have among other things accused him of showing gross disrespect towards them and taking unilateral decisions without recourse to local government structures.

In a 6 point resolution, they are demanding that an emergency meeting be convened in accordance with order 19 (3) of the standing orders of the District, Municipal and Metropolitan Assemblies of Ghana for the purposes of removing the mayor.

On the justification of the decisions they said:’ “awarding contracts without due process, disregarding and disrespecting assembly members, taking and acting on serious issues without prior approval of the assembly , lying to and withholding information from honourable assembly members and the good people of Tamale , mismanaging assembly resources and acting very hostile towards assembly members.
