Global Goals PR Team, SDGS Ambassadors call on UNDP

The Global Goals PR Team on Tuesday 20th October, 2015 paid a courtesy call on the Country Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to present their programs for the last quarter of the year 2015 and upcoming programs for 2016 and beyond.

The Global Goals for Sustainable Development or Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are ambitious objectives set up by the United Nations and endorsed by 193 world leaders to replace the Millennium Development Goals to be implemented from 2015 to 2030.

The SDGs are targeted to end extreme poverty, eliminate inequalities at all levels, and take action of climate change.

The meeting was also to officially introduce the nominated Global Goals Ambassadors to the UNDP, to be later commissioned later in November this year. The personalities are Hanks Anuku – African action movie star and musician, Buddaman – CEO Rebbel Entertainment & Dancehall star, and Abbey Emmanuel Alo – Chess for Peace Activist.

Also present in the meeting at the UN Ghana Head Office were Kwansiafam Dr. Barimamu Nana Kwasi Anim 1 - representative of the National House of Chiefs, Advisory Board Members, Legends International Chess Foundation, Rainbow Innovations, Legacy Girls College, Kesinor Savings & Loans and Rebbel Entertainment.

In a report and presentation by the Head of the Team, Stephen Selasie Asuo narrated all the activities that have been executed so far which included the media launch of the African All Star campaign song, “Tell Everybody” in September which featured stars like Sarkodie, Becca (Ghana), Toofan (Togo), Yemi Alade (Nigeria), Sauti Sol, Diamond Platinumz, Mafikozolo; the Chess Rally at Busy Mouth Lounge at Greda Estate to celebrate the Nigerian Independence Day among others.

It was also announced that there will be an official launching of the Rally for the Goals Campaign by the Government of Ghana, UN and the Global Goals PR Team as well as all partnering companies at the Alisa Hotel in November.

The occasion would also be used to officially commission the nominated Ambassadors of the SDGs to the general public.
