Ghanaians urged to embrace the work of the NRC

Kuntanase (Ash), July 4, GNA - Madam Mary Akua Domfeh, 78, an activist of the National Democratic Congress has called on politicians and Ghanaians in general to embrace the work of the National Reconciliation Commission. She said it was only "people who have something to hide and are afraid of their own shadow who are bent on frustrating the work of the commission."

Madam Domfeh was speaking at a reception organised by the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District Assembly for 90 senior citizens to mark Ghana's 43rd Republic Day at Kuntanase. She cautioned people in authority to be mindful that they would one-day account for their stewardship and therefore should serve in honesty and transparency.

Mr Samuel Cudjoe, Ashanti Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, appealed to senior citizens not to hesitate to approach the government to share their experiences, make suggestions and offer ideas. Mr Bright Addai-Mununkum, the District Chief Executive, said the government was not witch-hunting but believed in the rule of law hence the prosecution of politicians who had misapplied state funds. Mr Yaw Yeboah, a senior citizen, called on Ghanaians to stand solidly behind the government and help sustain the country's democracy.
