The National Blood Service has urged Ghanaians to cultivate the habit of donating blood every four months to help save lives.

According to the service, the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital alone requires 200 units of blood daily.

Apart from this, the service is obliged to supply blood to hospitals across Ghana.

Speaking to Class News's Jerry Akornor after a blood donation and health screening exercise by Ghana Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Programme in Accra on Friday, 8 September 2017, senior blood donor and Organiser of National Blood Service Ghana, Joyce Oppong Adu, said the appeal comes at a time Ghana is in urgent need of blood.

She also advised the public to go through regular health screening to prevent ailments from rising to unmanageable proportions.
