Though the Ghanaian community in Toronto at the beginning of this year has been
plagued with many deaths (about 7 deaths within 30 days) both in Toronto and back
home in Ghana, the need to celebrate Ghana's 60th Birthday in the year of Canada's
150th Birthday landmark (both from British colonial rule) has not been overshadowed
by its misfortunes.

Under the dynamic leadership of its umbrella organization, the Ghanaian Canadian

way the 60th Independence Anniversary of Ghana, its motherland. According to the new
President of the GCAO, Mr Emmanuel Duodu, "the Ghanaian community shall be
observing the 60th anniversary of Ghana’s Independence in Toronto in March 2017 in

of our youth in particular and the community as a whole." Activities being
