Ghanaians are a bunch of jokers - Charles Sam

Motivational Speaker Charles Sam says the failure of Ghanaian leaders across all strata to do what must be done to move the country forward, portrays Ghana as a country of jokers.

Speaking on his programme ONE NATION on Radio XYZ on Friday, the Golden Future Promotions Chief Executive bemoaned the lack of pragmatism on the part of Ghanaian leaders in dealing with pertinent issues that affect the country.

He says leadership on all fronts has failed.

He added: “I’m taking [about] leadership at all levels, including where we expect the highest moral standards like the Churches and the Mosques. Leadership is not real. Leadership at state-level is not real so we don’t produce reality”.

Touching on the need for proper coordination of all government policies and programmes toward forging the nation ahead on a sturdy foundation, Mr. Sam bewailed the dearth of resources at the Policy Evaluation and Monitoring unit of the presidency to that end, as disclosed by unit head Dr. Tony Aidoo recently.

“Policy evaluation and monitoring is absolutely crucial,” Mr. Sam emphasised.

“How do you run an enterprise when you don’t do any monitoring and evaluation? How do you expect to succeed? We keep saying we want success but we don’t want to do the right things,” he lamented.

According to him, “we want a democracy because we have better freedoms but it goes with responsibility so we must do what is right. We must make sure that what goes to entrench and sustain democracy must be done; without which we won’t get the results we want to get; except of course we are all a bunch of jokers. Joker Ghana Incorporated, where all we do is just talking and not meaning what we say”.

He said “a nation must be run as a business and this nation needs a policy and evaluation unit. It must be functioning. It must be heavily funded. It must be given all the coorporation [needed]”.
