Ghanaians Must Be Computer Literate - Minister

Takoradi, Sept. 2, - The Western Regional Minister, Mrs Esther Lily Nkansah, has stressed the need for Ghanaians to be computer literate to enable the nation compete favourably with others in the global computer village. Mrs Nkansah said ''by so doing we would be fulfilling the set goals in Ghana's vision 2020 which borders on the need for improved national manpower holding.'' She made the call at the fifth graduation ceremony of the Dita- dang computer training institute at the weekend. About 192 students who have successfully completed various courses of study graduated at this year's ceremony and were awarded with certificates of merit. Mrs Nkansah commended the management of the institute explaining that it is a testimony of the government's desire to encourage private participation in the national education programme. Mrs Nkansah noted that the participation of private computer institutions in the education of the people have helped demystify the myth surrounding the use of computers to solve problems.
